Valley View Casino Center is an indoor arena situated in the city of San Diego in the state of California. This arena that used to be known as iPayOne Center and Diego Sports Arena is found in Sports Arena Blvd. The arena has seats for different events including ice hockey, arena football, tennis, concerts, circus and boxing.

Valley View Casino Center 3500 Sports Arena Blvd., San Diego, CA, 92110

The construction of the arena was in 1966 for about .4 million. And the arena was opened in November 2006 with a game between San Diego Gulls and Seattle Totems that was won by the Gulls. The most famous event to appear in the arena was the boxing event between Muhammad Ali and Ken Norton in 1973 and the winner was Norton. In 1979, the world record for the indoor mile was broken by the Irish athlete Eamonn Coghlan at the arena. And itÂ’s the world record until the present time.

Along its history, the arena has been home to several teams. For instance, between 1967 and 1971, the Valley View Casino Center was home to the NBA team San Diego Rockets. And between 1974 and 1976, the ABA team San Diego Sails called the arena home. From 1974 to 1977, the WHA team San Diego Mariners were based at the arena, and between the 1978 and 1984, the arena served as home to the NBA team San Diego Clippers. Many other teams have taken the arena as their home.

In 1971, the All Star Game of NBA took place in the arena. And in 1975, the Final Four of men basketball was hosted there in which the UCLA were the winners. In 2010, the UFC on Versus 2 appeared in the arena. As part of their tour Wherever We May Roam, the heavy metal band Metallica performed several shows at the arena in 1992. The Wrex the Halls in its 2011 version took place in the arena.
